Texvalley

Texvalley is a large integrated textile mall on NH-544, the Salem–Kochi bypass, at Gangapuram near Chithode, north of Erode city. It was promoted by Erode Textile Mall Ltd with support from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, and the Tamil Nadu government. It was proposed under the Comprehensive Powerloom Cluster Development Scheme. The foundation stone was laid in January 2011, and its weekly market opened in August 2014.

Size and layout

The complex covers about 1.6 million sq ft and houses close to 1,600 shops, with an average showroom size of about 210 sq ft. It is organised in sections: the Global Market for wholesale trade, Big Box Bazaar, and a Value Mall with branded retail, food courts and a multiplex. A warehouse of about 1 lakh sq ft supports storage and dispatch. Shops are owned rather than rented, which keeps many manufacturers on site long term.

What you can buy

Sections cover men's, women's and kids' clothing, home furnishing, handloom and export fabrics. Shirts are a highlight: one report counted at least 250 varieties of a single shirt model in one shop. Cotton goods from the Erode powerloom cluster, including grey cloth, are traded here too.

Who it serves

Texvalley describes itself as South India's B2B and B2C integrated destination mall. Bulk buyers source from it, and retail shoppers visit too. Most walk-in visitors come from within 70–80 km, and the mall also draws highway travellers. It aims to serve the nearby textile clusters of Karur, Tirupur, Coimbatore and Salem.

Facilities

The Powerloom Development and Export Promotion Council (PDEXCIL) moved its regional office to Texvalley in 2016, and a textile design studio opened on campus the same year. Logistics and warehousing services are available to traders.
