FOSTTA is the Federation of Surat Trade and Textile Associations, an umbrella body representing traders' associations across Surat's textile markets. It speaks for traders on issues such as taxes, market rules and trading days.
Surat's markets each have their own committees, and FOSTTA brings many of these associations together. It liaises with government bodies on matters like GST, labour and infrastructure, and issues trade-wide notices, for example on special trading days before Diwali. Exporters are represented separately by bodies such as the Surat Textile Exporters' Association.
For buyers, FOSTTA notices are a useful signal of market-wide changes, such as holidays, strikes or extended hours, that may affect your visit or delivery dates.
