What is the difference between Leheriya and Mothda sarees in Jaipur?

Short answer

Leheriya features diagonal wave-like stripes created by resist-dyeing rolled fabric, traditionally worn during the monsoon festivals of Teej and Raksha Bandhan. When the diagonal stripes are dyed in two crossing directions to form a tiny checkered diamond pattern, it is called Mothda.

Both Leheriya and Mothda are iconic Rajasthani tie-dye textiles sold across Purohit Ji Ka Katla, Johari Bazaar, and Maniharon Ka Rasta on Kota Doria, chiffon, georgette, and cotton kurtis.
