Short answer
Shoddy yarn is spun from recycled woollen and cotton waste. Panipat is the world's largest centre: about 6,400 MSMEs process nearly 4,000 tonnes of textile waste a day into recycled yarn.
See the Panipat Recycled (Shoddy) Yarn Cluster. Waste is sorted on Barsat Road, spun on Sanoli and Kabri Roads, dyed in Sectors 25 and 29, and woven into blankets and furnishings.
