Which day of the week are Mumbai wholesale textile markets closed?

Short answer

South Mumbai cloth markets (Kalbadevi, Mangaldas, Mulji Jetha, Mohatta, Chakla) are closed on Sundays. Central Mumbai markets (Dadar, Hindmata, Wadala, Gandhi Market) are closed on Mondays, and Ulhasnagar is closed on Thursdays.

Unlike Surat and Ahmedabad where all markets close on Sunday, Mumbai's textile hubs have different weekly holidays by zone—which actually lets you plan a 7-day non-stop sourcing trip:

  • Closed on Sunday (Open Mon–Sat): Kalbadevi (Mangaldas, Mulji Jetha, Swadeshi, Kakad), Mohatta Market, Chakla Market, and Bhiwandi/MIDC hubs.
  • Closed on Monday (Open Tue–Sun): Dadar Readymade Market, Hindmata Cloth Market, Wadala National Market (Kidwai Nagar), Gandhi Market (King's Circle), and Malad/Ghatkopar hubs.
  • Closed on Thursday (Open Fri–Wed): Ulhasnagar Jeans & Garment Market.
