What is the difference between a Manufacturer, Super-Wholesaler (Semi-Wholesaler), and Trader in textile markets?

Short answer

A Manufacturer produces the fabric or garment and sells in large parcel/catalogue volumes; a Super-Wholesaler (Stockist) buys massive lots from multiple manufacturers so retailers can buy diverse catalogues under one roof; and a Trader/Broker connects buyers with mills.

Understanding who you are buying from helps you pick the right supplier for your budget:

  • Small Boutique (Budget ₹15,000 – ₹50,000): Buying from a Wholesaler / Super-Stockist is often smarter because you can mix 10 different styles from 10 different brands in a single bill and parcel.
  • Large Showroom or Regional Dealer (Budget ₹1,00,000+): Buying directly from a Manufacturer in full parcels (80–200 pieces per design line) saves 10% to 18% on unit cost.
