Short answer
In Indian wholesale cloth markets, a standard metric meter is 100 cm, whereas a traditional "L-Fold" (or Taka fold) can measure 90 cm, 93 cm, or 95 cm per fold. Always ask the trader for the exact fold length before comparing per-meter prices.
When buying running fabrics by the lump or than in Surat's New Textile Market, Ahmedabad's New Cloth Market, or Mumbai's Mulji Jetha Market, a ₹3/meter lower quote can sometimes mean a 92cm fold instead of a 100cm meter (an 8% difference in actual cloth!). Always confirm two specs in writing on your bill: Fold Length (e.g., 98–100 cm) and Fabric Width / Panna (e.g., 44" or 58").
