Short answer
RFD stands for "Ready for Dyeing" (or Ready for Digital Printing). It is fabric that has been scoured, desized, and bleached to a pure white absorbency so boutiques or converters can dye it into any custom shade or digitally print on it immediately.
Unlike raw loom-state grey cloth (which contains starch, natural oils, and loom dirt and cannot absorb dye directly), RFD fabric has already been chemically cleaned and bleached at a processing mill. Fashion designers and boutique manufacturers buy RFD georgette, organza, chinon, silk, and 60x60 cotton in 25–100m rolls at Mangaldas Market (Mumbai), Kohinoor House (Surat), and New Cloth Market (Ahmedabad).
